Apply for Funding
Our Purpose is to by generate, responsibly manage and the distribute funds to support education and research projects that leads to safe, effective, patient-centred, timely, efficient and equitable application of healthcare technology. By managing a portfolio of projects, we aim to deliver the GCEA vision of achieving significant improvements in global healthcare through the application of technology.
We distribute these funds through a number of funding streams:
Open Calls
In this stream, applicants can apply for funding to support any project that falls into the HTF remit. There are no specific criteria or timescales but general guidance on what HTF can fund is available to down load here. While there is no stated limit on funding available for each project, these are generally relative small funding allocations, typically less than $5,000.
There are two windows per year to apply for Open Call funding (see details on Open Call page) and HTF committee generally reviews twice a year.
Responsive (directed) Calls
From time-to-time HTF will run responsive calls on specific projects as directed by HTF Committee or the GCEA Strategic Committee. These calls have specific deadlines and funding criteria and are publicised widely to attract the largest possible response.
Sponsored Calls
These calls are where an external third party provides the funding and sets the theme or broad objectives, but where HTF facilitates the allocation of the award and provides oversight of the successful projects. They operate in the same way as Responsive Calls with specific deadlines and funding criteria and are publicised widely to attract the largest possible response. Notwithstanding the source of funding, GCEA HTF will always ensure such projects align with GCEA goals and meet GCEA ethical criteria.
Collaborative Calls
Proud of our partnerships and collaborations with other organisations, GCEA HTF are always seeking opportunities to improve healthcare through technology by working with others. Where mutually beneficial, HTF run collaborative calls with other funding bodies and organisations. These calls are usually bespoke and generally operate in the same way as Responsive Calls with specific deadlines and funding criteria and are publicised widely to attract the largest possible response.
Notwithstanding the source of funding or collaborations involved, GCEA HTF will always ensure such projects align with GCEA goals and meet GCEA ethical criteria.
