GCEA Jiang Yuanhai & William Hyman Global Academic Award for outstanding contributions to the Clinical Engineering discipline
Award Description
This award recognizes groups or societies for their contribution toward collaboration with other countries to improve their knowledge, education, capacities, and status in the Clinical Engineering field.
Criteria
The efforts of the nominated groups or societies that have gained global recognition in the Clinical Engineering field, health care system, and communities through a demonstrated combination of the following categories:
1. Professional Capacity Building
A. Created capacity building program for improving Clinical Engineering knowledge and skills.
B. Conducted cross-training programs.
C. Implemented the original scheme.
D. Adjusted attender’s demand in each country’s environment.
E. Developed both lecture and practice.
F. Produced skilled professional workers in the clinical engineering field.
2. Collaboration
A. Built relationships across different counties, regions, or organizations to solve their own problems.
B. Created effective work and accomplish the goals together.
C. Formed partnerships to encourage the Clinical Engineering field.
D. Developed a sustainable collaborative environment.
3. Contribution
A. Significant importance topics or challenges described in the Clinical Engineering field (universality, urgency, impact, etc.).
B. Profitable collaboration in sustainable practice (applicability, problem-solving value, etc.).
C. Benefit for both parties who collaborated.
D. Contributed to patient safety, healthcare technology, and services.
E. Measured the contribution in the area involving social philanthropic and cultural areas.
Frequency
Yearly; in the ICEHTMC or on the CE Day.
Award
Plaque and registration fee of the international congress.
Event and Presentation
GCEA Collaborative Capacity Building Award will be given at the same time as international events such as ICEHTMC. GCEA awards will be distributed worldwide by the GCEA website. Special presentation events are recommended and held by a webinar, newsletter, or journal.
Award Description
This award recognizes a Technologist or Technician who practices in healthcare those functions and demonstrates outstanding efforts to contribute toward the promotion of the clinical engineering field through their leadership skills and service.
Criteria
The scope of the demonstrated efforts of the nominated individual must be wide enough to have gained global/ or regional recognition in the Clinical Engineering field, health care system, and related communities through the clear accomplishment of the following categories:
Professional work
A. Demonstrated a high level of professionalism.
B. Advanced the mission of the BMET. Perform technical tasks to aid in research, design, manufacture, assembly, operation, maintenance, safety, or repair of medical equipment
C. Implemented routine job expectations by taking initiative and inspiring others to work collaboratively and creatively.
D. Served a minimum of 15 years as a technologist or technician.
E. Demonstrated initiative and leadership skills for a minimum of 5 years.
Contribution
A. Significant important topics or challenges resolved related to the Clinical Engineering field (universality, urgency, impact, etc.).
B. Contributed to the promotion of patient safety, healthcare technology innovation and management, and practices exemplary services.
C. Participated in community activities and demonstrated contribution in social philanthropic and cultural areas.
D. Effectively promoted the Clinical Engineering mission, vision, and strategic plans in the biomedical engineering field internationally /regionally
Leadership
A. Demonstrated transformative and innovative leadership skills by empowering other staff and fostering effective change to contribute to the success of the Clinical engineering field.
B. Developed and maintained positive relationships with other Technicians/ Technologists and staff members across the clinical engineering field to design, deliver, and drive engagement.
C. Participated in local or regional meetings and in teaching/training/ or publication reflecting self-professional development
D. Served as a role model for others.

Here are key criteria and methods for measuring excellence in academic clinical engineering teaching:
Exceptional Academic Achievement: Awardees have consistently maintained high academic standards, exhibiting mastery of the principles and practices of clinical engineering. Their academic records reflect a commitment to excellence in coursework, research, and practical application.
Innovative Thinking: Recipients have shown a propensity for creative problem-solving and innovative thinking in addressing the complex challenges of clinical engineering. They have contributed to cutting-edge research or the development of novel solutions that have improved healthcare technology and patient outcomes.Leadership and Mentorship: Awardees have not only excelled individually but have also demonstrated leadership qualities within the clinical engineering community. They have served as mentors, guiding, and inspiring the next generation of clinical engineers, and have played a role in fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
Community Engagement: Beyond the classroom and laboratory, recipients have actively engaged with the broader clinical engineering community. They may have participated in conferences, published research papers, or undertaken projects that have had a positive impact on the field.
Ethical and Professional Standards: Awardees uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in their work. They prioritize patient safety, adherence to regulations, and the ethical use of technology in healthcare.
