Award Description

This distinguished award honors individuals who have devoted their professional lives to advancing the field of Clinical Engineering and Health Technology Management. It recognizes exceptional, sustained contributions that have expanded the global outreach of the profession across academia, industry, public sector, international organizations, accreditation agencies, non-profit organizations, and beyond.

Unlike other awards, this honor is not limited to engineers or technologists. The GCEA Global Lifetime Achievement Award acknowledges that leaders from diverse walks of life — educators, policymakers, administrators, innovators, and advocates — have made profound, lifelong contributions to strengthening healthcare technology and improving patient outcomes.

Recipients of this award embody the spirit of dedication, perseverance, and vision, leaving a legacy that will inspire future generations worldwide.

Criteria

Nominees will be evaluated on the basis of:

• Sustained Contribution: Demonstrated lifelong dedication to advancing Clinical Engineering/HTM at the global or regional level.

• Impact Across Sectors: Influence extending beyond a single role, with contributions in academia, government, international agencies, NGOs, or industry.

• Leadership & Mentorship: Evidence of having guided, mentored, or inspired others, creating pathways for future professionals and strengthening organizational capacity.

• Global Reach: Activities that have influenced practice or policy across multiple countries or WHO regions.

• Ethical Standards: Commitment to patient safety, equity, and ethical stewardship of health technologies throughout their career.

Frequency

This award will be granted periodically, at the discretion of the GCEA Board of Directors. Unlike other categories, nominees will be proposed and voted upon by the Board to ensure the recognition remains rare and prestigious.

Award

• Plaque commemorating the individual’s contributions.

• Waived registration for the international congress where the award is presented.

• Monetary support towards travel expenses for the recipient to attend the event.

Event and Presentation

The inaugural GCEA Global Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented during the October 6th ICEHTMCTM 2025 Global Conference. Future awards may be conferred during international events such as the International Clinical Engineering and Health Technology Management Congress (ICEHTMC) or Global Clinical Engineering Day.

Awards will be showcased on the GCEA website, in newsletters, and in the Global Clinical Engineering Journal, with opportunities for special webinars or interviews celebrating the awardee’s contributions.
